What is polleverywhere.com?
Polleverywhere.com is a website that allows you to create polls and get instant, live time results of your poll. The user can create multiple choice polls or polls with open ended questions. The audience can respond to these polls using texts, computers, tablets, and even twitter! When responses come in, polleverywhere displays the results in a real time so the audience can see exactly what the results are. Polleverywhere.com offers free and premium options. How do you use polleverywhere.com?

As you can see the instructions are very simple and tell you what number to text and what to text for the possible responses; 19, 20, 21, and 22. All of these responses update in real time so you can actually see the bar graphs change.
Applications to the Math Classroom
There are many different ways you could use this in the math classroom. Here are three possible uses for polleverywhere.com in a mathematics classroom. These examples will meet the CDE high school math standards 1, 2, 3, and 4.
1) The teacher can poll the students on any question. The students can then respond to that question and see what the data looks like. From there the students can use that data to calculate various things. They can look at the data and find the mean, mode, and range.
2) The teacher can ask a poll question about what the best way to find the perimeter of an island is in real life. The students can respond to the poll with their answer to the question. From there the students can break up into groups with other people with similar answers and argue why they have the best way to measure the perimeter of the island.
3) The teacher can use this tool as a review before a test. The teacher can create polls as review questions. The students can then answer the polls and see how they did. This can also be a game where the students participate in teams and keep track on how many answers they get right.
