Promethean Board

What is a Promethean Board?

The Promethean Board is an integrative approach to learning. It provides a multi-sensory approach to learning that is beneficial to all types of learners. The Promethean Board offers different tools that can be used to help teach. The tools include a ActivBoard, an ActivePen, a Document Camera, and multiple online tools to assist in any content area. This is a beneficial tool to special education teachers, because they teach all different types of courses, which includes academic classes, teaching transition, and behavior to name a few. To learn more about the beliefs of the creators of Promethean Board, read about it on this website. http://www.prometheanworld.com/en-us/about

This can present the material in many different ways. It can be hooked up to a computer, a document camera, and become interactive for diverse learners. There is an ActivPen that can be used by the student or teacher to “write” on the board. This does not leave an actual mark on the board, but when hooked up to a computer, it acts like a mouse. When the document camera is hooked up, you can display anything under it from papers, to books. This cuts down on making transparencies. This allows for a more interactive lesson. It can also show videos because it has speakers.
