The iStorybooks app has different picture books that can be read aloud to students. This can be very useful for student still learning how to read. Simply open the app and choose a book to be read. The student can turn the pages quickly or the app will turn them for you after the page is read aloud.
This could be used as a class activity to read a book together and be able to pause and ask questions or predict what will happen. This could also be used as an individual activity or group activity and then plan to write a journal entry response based on the book or create a video summary or trailer based upon the story.
Below is a screenshot of the Ugly Duckling being read with the app.
